Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos

Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos is a New-York based self-taught artist. She was born in Greece, raised in France, and currently lives and works in New York.

Influenced by her multi-cultural background, her work is driven by the desire to locate herself and trace the boundaries of her persona - both physical and virtual. She uses whimsical imagery to engage the audience in a dialogue about identity - how identity is created, perceived and restricted by the limitations of the body.

Her work has been shown internationally in the United States, Europe, Latine America and Canada. Kosmatopoulos also worked alongside socially-charged entities such as the Organization of American States (OAS) to create large scale installations that raise awareness on social issues.
